"Kill Them Kindly"
The painting was overwhelmingly inspired by the game "Bioshock: Infinite". It is a steampunk dystopia set in the Edwardian era where you play the character accused of being the antichrist. It has two games before that Bioshock 1 & 2. If you look closely to the background you will see references to all three games.
The subject was inspired by three things: the quartet in Infinite that sings "God Only Knows", Día de los Muertos/Mexican LA tattoo art, and the Boys of Silence which are very terrifying in Infinite - you can tell because of the shape of his ears.

"Harlequin Hare"
This was once again inspired by Bioshock however the very first game and last game. In "Burial at Sea" you and Elizabeth can only enter the Cohen club if wearing a rabbit mask and these masks were so elaborate and beautiful. In the first Bioshock after chaos ensues, the splicers you must defeat are wearing said masks so it became associated with fear. Also during this time I was very much in love with different optical illusions and patterns specifically black and white patterns. As you can see there is once again a slight asymmetry in my art.

"Hero"
This I painted for a contest in high school (no I didn't win) and I was very much inspired by Renaissance art with the baroque background. Although a religious painting, I believe the reason an artist paints a piece doesn't have to matter to the viewers. For example, a veteran can see far different things in this piece than I ever could. Ironically the bloody hands you see are supposed to represent humanity (not Jesus' bloody hands though you can very well see it that way if you wish) while the stainless hand is that of a savior. Despite all the blood it was initially meant to be a positive piece.
"Low Quality, Just Like You"
This piece was originally made to go into a small tattoo shop that wanted punk related art. If I learned anything from punk it's the rejection of the mass commercial and even boycotts. I personally find big business especially targeted toward children very disturbing I had been boycotting McDonalds for a couple years when I painted this. I just don't like how low quality the food they offer despite being such a rich company so in relation I cut off the flap from a tide box and used the cheap acrylic paint. The background has some irrelevant imagery but it was meant to associate extreme and dangerous images with Ronald the clown. This is ironic for two reasons: subluminal messaging while judging McDonalds for doing just that to children as well as for my love of clowns yet trashing on Ronald.
