"A Kush Goodnight"

Inspired by a song/album by All Them Witches. The song is called "Bulls" has the lyrics "I'm driving around my worries, I'm sleeping through the war." I interpreted it as passive and a neutral stance among everything that most worry about in life. For most people its hard to let things go but here the song is saying it's as easy as sleep. I wanted to glorify those words I decided to take a psychedelic approach to this piece. I needed a face to draw and so I decided on Pete Davidson's likeness as he makes references of his extensive use of marijuana but I mostly decided on his face because he was publicly going through a depression and I wanted to make something positive of him.

"Saint of Nature"

This is my largest painting yet. The camera did not do it justice because it is more vibrant in real life. It is a depiction of a natural witch brewing up something as she stirs and adds in a bit of rosemary which grows outside my window. The pentacle behind her head resembles a halo similarly seen in Renaissance art for those who are considered saints. The main woman you see a halo around is Mother Mary so I thought I could create my own saint. Not a specific saint however one that represents all women that take the time to participate in the secret works of nature. (I plan on making this a series of its own)

"The Magic of Stolen Tongues"

I was suffering from lack of inspiration so i decided to look to the fae inspired art more closely something mushroom related since I already titled my series "Smoke and Shrooms" . I found this image of a faery with a mushroom cap as hair. For me personally it was too cute and fluffy also I feel its best to avoid painting faces when you want to make a statement so I took the face away and replaced it with a mushroom.

I chose these words to paint in the pink spores from the lyrics "stole all the tongues from the mouth of babes" by ATW which I found so dark yet so hypnotic. I also chose the words "stolen tongues" because shrooms do not speak yet they are such a statement also from what I heard mushrooms stay in communication with each other through the earth using electricity.
